The Decision Analysis Process

The process for making complex decisions can be broken down into four phases as shown in Figure 1.  The process is iterative, and can be applied in a matter of hours or longer, depending on the complexity of the decision and the timeframe of the resource commitment.  The process ensures buy-in to the approach by the decision-makers at each step, and creates ownership of the information and recommendations by the project team.
